JONKOPING/MIES (Sweden/Switzerland) - The USA capped a magnificent eFIBA Season 2 in grand style over the weekend in Sweden, beating France in the first-ever eFIBA Lan event to become world champions.

DreamHack Winter 2023, the three-day gaming lifestyle festival at the Elmia Congress Center in Jonkoping, a city on the shores of Lake Vattern in southern Sweden, had more than 45,000 people in attendance and the eFIBA Season 2 World Finals was a main attraction.

After clinching first in their group, the USA next defeated the Philippines in the Semi-Finals to set up a showdown with France, who booked their place in the title clash with a triumph over Turkiye in the other Semi-Final.

USA then defeated France, clinching 55-50 win in Game 1 and a 65-35 victory in Game 2.

The final ranking of the event was USA first, with France second. Turkiye won the battle for third place against the Philippines, who came in fourth.

Morocco, Brazil, New Zealand and Lebanon finished fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

By winning the historic live in-person eFIBA World Finals, the Americans took the biggest share of the €50,000 prize pool and the title of world champions.

Mason 'Johhnyred' Bracken of USA was named MVP while France's Yacine 'Waarnocks' Jemel took the title of Defensive Player of the Year.

Both players were in the All-Star Five.

The event drew the curtain on a fantastic Season 2, which had 61 participating teams across seven regions. There were six weeks of online qualifiers followed by regional Finals. Eight teams, with each region represented, made it to the World Finals.

The festival featured several gaming tournaments, including the eFIBA Season 2 World Finals, ESL StarCraft® II Masters and the Swedish Elitserien Finals, alongside cosplay championships, the Brawl Stars World Finals and ESL R1 Fall Major.

Additionally, there were creator meet-and-greets, panels, live music, and much more.
